                            Cigarette Butts

Every year, more than four million Filipinos die from smoking-related diseases, such as heart attach, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and cancer.``With each cigarette puff, a smoker inhales 4,000 harmful chemicals, which include 43 cancer causing substansces``.
Cigarettes are the perfect delivery system for nicotine,a potent drug five times more addictive than heroin or cocaine.``Most smokers will reach a point where they no longer want to smoke, but they feel they cannot live without smoking. In most cases, people smokes for pleasure, smokes for the reason that it is the best companion in times of loneliness.
Nicotine, the worlds’ second most-used drug, acts directly on the brain and alters its circuitry. It increases the smoker’s levels of dopamine,a brain chemical that regulates  movement, motivation, emotion, and pleasure.
With repeated exposure, the brain develops a tolerance to nicotine.A smoker eventually needs to take in more nicotine-that is,smoke more frequently-to maintain the sensation of pleasure. These nicotine-induced changes in the brain cause the craving and withdrawal symptoms that compromise a smoker’s free will and harmper quitting.
